MANILA, Philippines — The Court of Appeals dismissed the petition of Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to stop the Quezon City regional trial court from proceeding with the P5.4-million civil suit filed against her by a Protestant over the extrajudicial killings of clergymen and church workers and the disappearance of a pastor during her term as President.

Updates on the Damages of Typhoon Lando in the North Luzon Jurisdictional Area
Among the badly affected by Lando in Cagayan Valley are the farmers. Hundreds of hectares of rice and corn fields were totally destroyed by strong winds and floods. Banana, coconut and many other fruit bearing trees were also totally damaged. Vegetable gardens in the upper parts of Nueva Vizcaya were destroyed by landslides. Several towns in the region especially those along Magat and Cagayan rivers had been flooded. 36 houses near the riverbanks were totally damaged also. Livestock – cows and carabaos had been reportedly swept out by floods.
