After the Lumad killings comes today’s murder of Kidapawan farmers who are rallying for government support due to the crisis caused by the El NiƱo phenomenon. As an essential but widely-neglected sector, the farmers toil with their sweat and blood to produce crops that we partake in our dining tables.
What makes our very own Philippine government unique is that when people ask for Rice and if they to try exercise the right to express, guns and dispersal units will respond to their actions. They will be killed, maltreated or dispersed by armed officers. This occurrence depicts the image of a cruel government that cares not of its people’s welfare even in the face of difficult circumstances. Instead of giving aid, it has used force and guns to disperse the people wailing and crying for help.
Justice for the farmers shot by the SWAT of Kidapawan! They were asking for RICE not GUNS! FOOD to LIVE not BULLETS to cause their DEATH!
