MLJ HOLDS 2016 ORDINATION REVIEW AND EXAMINATION FOR CHURCH WORKERS

The requirements for the church workers to be eligible to take the examination are the following:

  1. Must be a graduate of a 4 – year degree leading to Pastoral Ministry offered by any of the Ministerial Formation Centers recognized and or accredited by UCCP; and
  2. have at least 2 consecutive years of full time satisfactory pastoral work as a licentiate in a local church (By – Laws, Article II, Section 2a).

 The process will later be made into a national, unified, canonical exam coordinated by the Office of the Ministry, supervised by the Council of Bishops and will be a non-appealable requirement towards ordination in accordance with a proposed amendment in the Magna Carta for Church Workers.

The qualified church workers review 9 subjects, 6 of which are major subjects:

  1. Bible (Old Testament)
  2. Bible (New Testament)
  3. Theology and Ethics
  4. Church History
  5. Christian Education
  6. Church Polity and Administration
  7. Worship (Liturgy and Music)
  8. Pastoral Care and Counselling
  9. Preaching (Homiletics)

Before the theoretical examinations, a psychological assessment was conducted by Ms. Edna Roderos, and in between, a process retreat took place which was facilitated by Rev. Ester L. Padre.

The Ordination Team consists of Rev. Joseph G. Agpaoa, Rev. Francisco S. Aviso, Jr., and Rev. Luisito H. Saliendra with the guidance of Bishop Marino Inong, Office of the Ministry; Bishop Elorde Sambat, NLJ; Bishop Emergencio Padillo, MLJ; and Bishop Joel Tendero, SLJ.

Reviewers were Rev. Francisco S. Aviso, Jr., Rev. Joseph G. Agpaoa, Rev. Luisito H. Saliendra, Rev. Luna Dingayan, Dr. Noriel Capulong, Bishop Joel Tendero, Rev. Lilybeth Tauy – Tendero, Rev. Andrew Tiver, Bishop Jessie S. Suarez and Rev. Ester L. Padre.

This year’s examinees were the following:

  1. Pastor Virgilio R. Tulgo, SLJ, North East Southern Tagalog Conference
  2. Pastor Analyn C. Villalobos, SLJ, Southern Tagalog Conference
  3. Pastor Jepril P. Kakilala, MLJ, Lowland Cavite South Manila
  4. Pastor Aaron P. Puya-ao, NLJ, New Abra Conference
  5. Pastor Ruben S. Wayagwag, NLJ, New Abra Conference
  6. Pastor Jorifel B. Malana, NLJ, Apayao Conference
  7. Pastor Delmas M. Paran, NLJ, Highland Conference
  8. Pastor Arne Q. Puwok, NLJ, Highland Conference

According to Rev. Aviso, Examination results should come out early in the next year, preferably January. Results shall be forwarded to the examinees’ respective jurisdictions and eventually, to the candidates’ conference through the Examination Committee.

If an examinee failed in one of the major subjects, his/her Ordination Ceremony must be deferred. The candidate shall be endorsed or advised to attend continuing ministerial education under a program prepared by or under the supervision of the conference where they belong. They may also be endorsed to attend related subjects offered by the Ministerial Formation Centers. Under this circumstance, deferment is only up to a maximum of two (2) years.
