As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.
1 PETER 4:10
Institutional Ministries provide opportunities for church-owned and church-related institutions and their respective associations to contribute to the mission and programs of the church. These ministries are also geared toward building a unified/integrated system for education, health, and ministerial formation.
UCCP affiliates operate a number of schools, theological training centers, and hospitals throughout the Philippines, many of which were started by early missions.
Ministerial Formation Centers
Pastors are crucial in maintaining the vibrancy and dynamism of our local churches, and in strengthening the unity of the church. Consultations involving the Faith and Order Commission and Theological Education Board proposed the creation of a UCCP Seminary System for the viability and sustainability of quality ministerial formation centers. There are six (6) accredited seminaries located in various parts of the country.
- College of Theology, Northern Christian College, Laoag
- College of Theology, Southern Christian College, Midsayap
- Divinity School, Silliman University, Dumaguete
- Ecumenical Theological Seminary, Baguio
- Pag-asa School of Theology, Brokenshire College, Davao City
- Union Theological Seminary, Philippine Christian University, Dasmarinas
Schools and Colleges
There are a number of educational institutions all over the country that provide support to the life and work of the church. These include 11 colleges/universities and 10 elementary/high schools in mostly Catholic, Muslim, or indigenous communities. The establishment of a UCCP School System has been proposed to ensure greater cooperation and coordination among the educational institutions and to resolve their uneven development.
Several medical institutions located in strategic cities in the country give the church an opportunity to pursue its healing ministry. There are five (5) hospitals that provide health care as well as extension programs that reach out to communities that otherwise have no access to health facilities and services. Toward building a UCCP Integrated Health Ministry, these hospitals include:
- Bethany Hospital, San Fernando
- Bethany Hospital, Tacloban
- Brokenshire Integrated Health Ministry Inc., Davao City
- Silliman University Medical Center, Dumaguete
- Visayas Community Medical Center, Cebu
There are five (5) service centers in strategic areas in the country that serve as centers for training, retreats, and conferences, while also generating some income for the church.
- Shalom Center, Manila
- CENDET, Cebu
- Haran House, Davao City
- Peace Center, Baguio
- CONDORA, La Union
